Caring for your Elbows

Looking good helps in boosting our confidence levels. However, beauty treatments should not remain confined to our face only. While the face is the most noticeable feature of our body, we expose other body parts as well. Taking proper care of our entire body will help us to stay both beautiful as well as healthy.

Our elbows are often overlooked by us. Although they are subjected to a fair bit of exposure as well as regular rubbing and scrubbing motions periodically, we hardly ever look twice to check the condition of our elbows. As a result most of us tend to have dry and dark elbows even as our face looks smooth and well cared for.

It is certainly time now to sit up and take notice. The good news is that the elbows can be lightened considerably to match the skin else where in our body if we take just a little care.

Cleaning- Exfoliating the rough skin twice a day will prove to be most beneficial. Using a loofah or an effective exfoliating scrub will be really effective.  As the skin of our elbow is a little tougher and coarser it will need regular exfoliation in order to keep it soft and prevent it from taking on a darker hue. The cracks in our elbows also tend to accumulate dirt leading to the darkening of the skin. Simple cleansing methods are not enough for taking care of your elbow. Proper exfoliation is an absolute necessity.

Lightening- Rubbing the juice of half a lime into your elbows may help in getting rid of the dark color to some extent. Applying a few drops of coconut or olive oil to your elbows will also help you in keeping the area moisturized. It is mandatory to wash off the elbows with warm water after applying the lime and oil. This should be made into a nightly ritual if you want to lighten the color of your elbows. However, application of both the citrus juice and the oil should be discontinued immediately if you notice any redness or skin cracks.
