Benefits of Epsom Salt

Epsom salt is the common name for magnesium sulphate and can be used to prevent infections. It is particularly beneficial when used on infected toenails or other minor scrapes and injuries.

Usage- It needs to be mixed with warm water in order to function effectively. The affected body part needs to be soaked in the Epsom salt and water mixture several times a day. Apart from its healing properties, it is now used predominantly for beauty treatments as well.

Relaxation- Soaking in a tub full of warm water and Epsom salts can be a wonderfully relaxing experience for the body. The chemical is absorbed through the skin and helps to exorcise the toxins from the body. It also sedates the nervous system making you feel relaxed and drowsy.

Feet- Soaking the feet in an Epsom salt solution will help to relieve the aches and sprains. It also helps you to get rid of the stinking fishy odor of the feet. The skin of the feet softens considerably too. Any invisible splinter in the foot will swell and come out of the skin if you happen to soak your bruised feet in Epsom salt solution for considerable period of time.

Face- Adding Epsom salt to your face cleanser will help you to remove the dirt and grime effectively. Massaging the cream mixed with magnesium crystals will help to relax the taut facial muscles as well. Epsom salt is also used as an active ingredient of home made facial masks. Both oily as well as dry skin types can benefit from the rejuvenating effects of Epsom salt. Your skin will become soft and supple after it undergoes exfoliation with Epsom salt crystals.

Hair- Adding Epsom salt to your shampoo will help you to get rid of the excess hair oil. It can also be used to remove the remnants of hair spray.   Epsom salt is also known for its hair volume increasing properties and make limp and lanky hair look attractive.
