Avoiding Motion Sickness

Lots of people get motion sickness. This is more common when you are going by car on a winding road. The more winding the road the more your head spins and you feel sick in the stomach. Motion sickness is also common when you travel by boat. It is the constant up and down motion of the boat that causes your stomach to churn. If you are going to be travelling and you know you suffer from motion sickness try taking an over the counter medicine to prevent it. Also avoid eating one hour before your journey.

When you are in a car avoid looking out of the window as the scene around you on a winding road will only appear to rotate and you will eventually vomit. The more you think about it the higher are the chances of you throwing up. Sleep through the car journey or try to read a book so as to concentrate on something else. Tell people in the car to avoid eating next to you as the small of food could also make you throw up.

If you are in a boat you make find yourself getting sea sick. That is due to the boat bobbing up and down. Stay away from strong smalls and keep coming out for a breath of fresh air. It will make you feel better. If you are in an airplane and suffer from air sickness take an aisle seat as it will make you feel less claustrophobic and make sure you switch on the acvent above your head. Eat light meals on flight and avoid alcohol completely.

For those who suffer from motion sickness really badly it is better to travel at night so that you cannot see anything outside. If you are travelling by car make sure you sit in the front seat. On a boat or ship do not take a room below the deck. Stay on the deck level.

Some things that you can eat or chew on through your ride is a piece of ginger or just place one clove in your mouth or else you can try sucking on a piece of lemon. these seem to reduce the feeling of motion sickness. And lastly always remember to have a paper bag with you in case you need to throw up.
