Avoid Razor Burns
Almost all men who have to shave every morning have faced the problem with razor burns. Women, who resort to the razor while shaving their underarms or legs may often have to experience it themselves. A skin irritation caused by a blunt razor blade or improper shaving technique is known as a razor burn. The condition is self limiting and the rashes disappear after a day or two but it is irritable and looks ugly on the otherwise smooth skin. However, you can easily prevent razor burns if you take a little care while shaving.
Moisturizing Shaving gels- A moisturized skin is smooth and the razor slides through the skin easily without leaving any razor burns. It is a good idea to use a moisturizing shaving gel instead of the ordinary shaving cream. Some people use soap which dries the skin even more.
Shaving Direction- It is always necessary to shave in the direction of your hair growth. Shaving in the opposite direction only results in ingrown hair and chaffed skin. You may actually cut your skin while trying to go against the nature.
Pressure- It is not wise to apply too much pressure while shaving. Shaving too closely may increase the risk of razor burns too. However, if you are keen on having a smooth skin, try to use a new razor on each occasion. Blunt razor shaving will only give you a bruised look.
Avoid Perfumes- Expensive perfumed after shaves will, no doubt, attract more attention but they may cause blackening of the skin and razor burns too. Try using a soothing aloe vera lotion instead. They are natural cures for razor burns and will help to keep your skin supple.
Cleaning your Razor- It is best if you can use a fresh razor every time you shave. Since that it not practical, you need to at least clean your razor thoroughly after each use. A razor which has grazed your skin will be teeming with bacteria and as well as other infecting agents. Dipping it in alcohol will ensure that you have a clean razor every time.
