If you have trouble falling asleep, you need to follow a few simple rules which will help you feel relaxed and fall asleep so that you can enjoy better health life and longevity of life.
If you find yourself waking up at midnight or not feeling refreshed in the morning, you may be one among millions of people who suffer from disturbed sleep or a sleeping disorder.
You can consult with a doctor to rule out any serious illness which may be underlying and causing your sleep problem. If no such problem is found to exist, then you can just try and improve your sleep environment and daytime habits for enjoying good sleep. You must develop a pattern of bedtime routine and stick to it however busy you are. By making some simple changes and avoiding pitfalls you can surely enjoy better sleep.
You can sleep well and better by following a regular exercise pattern everyday. Just indulging in 20-30 minutes of regular exercise such as walking or running can help you gain maximum benefits. You must however take care to schedule your exercise in the early afternoon or morning as the body’s temperature can be increased if you exercise later in the day. This can hamper your sleep routine. You can also try stretching exercises such as yoga for sleeping without disturbance.
You should avoid napping during the day time to get better sleep during the night. Though some people can sleep well at night in spite of napping in the afternoon, not all people are lucky in this regard. If you have problems in sleeping during night, you can avoid the habit of noon time napping.
People who have the habit of consuming alcohol should restrict this as it can affect the sleep quality. You can at least stay away from alcohol consumption for a few hours before going to bed. Caffeine is also known to cause sleep problems, so those suffering from sleep problems can limit its intake to enjoy a better sleep during night. So also, smoking can impair sleep in a number of ways. Nicotine disrupts sleep as it is a stimulant.
