Advantages of Raw Food Diet

Those who follow the raw food diet ensure that at least 75% of their diet is uncooked or raw. They include fresh fruits and vegetables, uncooked and unprocessed plant foods, seeds, nuts, seaweed, dried fruits etc in their diet. The followers of this type of diet are of the belief that cooking food can destroy its nutritive value and the life force of food and heating the same over 116 degrees Fahrenheit can destroy the enzymes in food. 

Raw food proponents believe that such a diet has several health benefits such as better skin appearance or texture, weight loss, better digestive capacity, improved energy levels, reduced risk of heart disease and others. Such a diet is also known to contain lesser saturated fat and trans fats than the Western type of diet.

A raw food diet is also high in potassium, folate, magnesium, phytochemicals and lesser in sodium because of which it has its own advantages. Hence you can be less prone to ailments such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Consumption of a raw food diet also was found to reduce triglyceride concentrations and cholesterol concentrations in a study.

Under the raw food diet, you can eat only organic or unprocessed food items such as nuts, seeds, legumes, fresh fruits and vegetables, beans, seaweed, purified water, coconut milk etc.You can adopt specific cooking techniques such as blending, dehydrating food, soaking dried fruits and nuts, sprouted grains and beans, juice of fruits and vegetables etc which can make the food easily digestible.

Foods should not be overcooked and fried food must be completely avoided. Such foods can be easily consumed by those who wish to shed weight also. It is also healthy and free from side effects of any kind. As it is rich in various vitamins and minerals it can also boost the immune system and ward of several diseases.
