5 Food Items to Boost your Immunity

While it is very important to keep the immune system of the body running with full spirits, it becomes quite a task to devise ways of doing so. Of course, you need to include lots of fruits and vegetables in your diet along with at least 8 – 10 glasses of water every day. Here are 5 food items which will give an extra boost to your immunity system.

1.) Yogurt. Yogurt provides the body with probiotics which are healthy bacteria required to free the gut and the intestinal tract from disease causing germs. Including 7 ounce of yogurt helps in giving a boost to the immunity. The bacteria found in yogurt help in producing more white blood cells in the body thus increasing the immunity.

2.) Barley and Oats. According to a study, barley and oats are known to be containing beta-glucan which is a fiber having antimicrobial and antioxidant capabilities which are more effective that Echinacea. These grains boost the human immunity help in better working of antibiotics and speed up healing of wounds. Try to include at least one in the three servings of whole grains in a day.

3.) Garlic. Garlic is known to contain an active ingredient known as allicin which helps in fighting infection and bacteria. The people who eat more garlic have much less tendency to catch a cold as they have better immunity. Along with that, it also lowers the rate of colorectal cancer and stomach cancer.

4.) Tea. Tea provides virus fighting interferon in the blood. It is known to be rich in theanine which is the amino acid responsible for boosting up the immunity. Those who drink 4-5 cups of tea in a day have much better immunity than those who don’t drink tea at all.

5.) Mushrooms. Many studies have proved that mushrooms help in increasing the production of white blood cells. They also increase the activity of the white blood cells and make them more aggressive which help prevents an infection.
